Norwest Crane Hire Pty Ltd is based in the Northwest of Western Australia, predominantly in Port Hedland with a satellite depot in Exmouth.

Founder and Managing Director of Norwest Crane Hire Pty Ltd, Bernie Johnson, has over 25 years experience in the crane, construction, oil and gas and mining industries. He commenced his Pilbara crane career in 1995 at Brambles Industrial Services (BIS) as the regional Northwest Operations Manager in Port Hedland. Mr Johnson then took up the position of Northwest Operations Manager with Boom Logistics from 2004 until January 2008. Norwest Crane Hire Pty Ltd was then founded in partnership with his long-time partner Toni Jessop.

Norwest purchased Exmouth Crane & Truck Hire in January 2008 servicing the Exmouth community with its crane and waste removal requirements. By 2010 demand for Norwest Crane Services within the Pilbara area resulted in a base being established in Port Hedland and several management and administration changes resulted in 2010 and 2011:

In 2018 the company has established itself a key supplier of lifting services in the Pilbara region. From key mining clients in Rio Tinto Iron Ore, BHP Rail infrastructure, Roy Hill Port & Mine facilities and Fortescue Anderson Point Port facilities. Whilst these blue chip clients are important in the Norwest portfolio we are a locally based company, Port Hedland and support all our industry partners.

Norwest’s success in the Pilbara is resigned to our efforts as the collective to not only look after our own people in the organisation but extend this genuine approach to our commercial and community relationships. We are involved in a number of community driven activities in the sports and social space through donations or time, resources and funding.
